Dr. John Cashwell <jwcashwell@pbcharrisburg.org> — Senior Pastor

John Cashwell serves as the Senior Pastor of the Providence family. He has been a part of the Providence family since 2002. He is married to Mary and has three daughters and a son-in-law. John has degrees from Gardner-Webb University and the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb. He has done post-doctoral work at Duke University (Go Blue Devils!). John loves seeing families grow in their relationship with God and become involved in ministry.

Rev. Rody Carland <rodycarland@pbcharrisburg.org> —- Minister to Senior Adults/Pastoral Care

Rody Carland has served as Minister of Senior Adults and Pastoral Care at Providence since March 2006.  Prior to this, Rody served God, his country, and his community as an interim pastor for several Charlotte-area churches, a United States Marine, and a career carrier of nearly thirty years with UPS.  Rody brings a wealth of life experience to his ministerial role, but has also continued his education through the Wayne E. Oates Institute, completing a number of certifications related to pastoral care and counseling.  Rody loves God and people, and specifically challenges the senior adults of Providence to embrace the wonderful privilege they have of passing on to younger generations the legacy of God's grace, love, and faithfulness.  Rody and his wife, Marie, are blessed with two children and four grandchildren.

Rev. Evan Smith <evansmith@pbcharrisburg.org> — Youth Minister

Evan Smith is the Youth Minister.  He is a native of Harrisburg and graduated from Hickory Ridge High School in 2009.  Evan continued his education at North Greenville University, where he graduated in 2013 with a Christian Studies degree.  Evan loves playing sports, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife Amanda, his dog, and his friends.  His passion is for students and seeing them embrace Christ as Lord and Savior, grow in their relationship with Him, and boldly spread the Gospel amongst their peers.

Mrs. Cindy Crenshaw — Staff Musician

Cindy Crenshaw has served Providence Baptist as staff musician since May 1986.  She began her career in music at the age of five when she began piano lessons from a patient teacher who was willing to accept the challenge!  Throughout her college career at Wingate University, she studied piano/organ and voice under the direction of private instructors and college professors.  Even though her major and life’s work is in healthcare, Cindy’s passion in life is serving God through her gift of music and is honored to serve the body of Christ at Providence Baptist.  Cindy and her husband Brent are blessed with one daughter, Casey, who is a senior at Gardner-Webb University.

Mrs. Kathy Epley — Staff Musician

Kathy Epley has a degree in education from Appalachian State University.  She enjoyed teaching and has recently retired from Cabarrus County Schools.  She has combined her love of education and music and now teaches piano.  Kathy has over 35 years in music ministry.  She loves spending time with her husband, three children, and grandchildren.  Kathy sees her service at Providence as a blessing and a continued opportunity to grow spiritually and musically.

Mrs. Barbara Provin <barbaraprovin@pbcharrisburg.org> — Administrator and Music Director

Barbara Provin has served as the Church Administrator/Secretary since May 2006.  She previously served as the office manager for about five years each at two different churches in Maryland, where she and husband, Phil, lived for 27 years and raised their family.  Barbara also serves as our Music Director, a position which she has held since September 2007.   While in Maryland, she served on a volunteer basis as Music Director for 13 years at Mt. Airy Baptist and then for 5 years on staff at Liberty Baptist.  Barbara and Phil have three children and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Jennifer Pyne <jenniferpyne@pbcharrisburg.org> — Director of Preschool and Children's Ministries

Jennifer Pyne serves as the Director of Preschool and Children's Ministries. Although she has been a volunteer in the children's area since 1998, she began her current full-time position in July 2014 after leaving her teaching position with Cabarrus County Schools.  A self-proclaimed VBS Geek, she also serves as the Vacation Bible School Director and employs creative methods for teaching Christ-like values and biblical truths to preschoolers and children.  Jennifer and her volunteers are dedicated to helping children come to know the amazing love of God in their lives.  Originally from upstate New York, she now resides in Harrisburg with her husband Mark and children Zachary, Madison, and Garrett.

Mr. C. Michael Pilato <cmpilato@pbcharrisburg.org> — Worship Leader / Technology Coordinator

Mike Pilato has been serving at Providence in a worship leadership capacity since shortly after he and his wife, Amy, began attending the church 2009.  A software developer by trade, he is fascinated by the intersection of nearly all things technical and artistic.  Mike's passion is to see all people — beginning at home with himself, his wife, and his three children — embrace both the awesome responsibility and the amazing opportunity they have to worship God.

Rev. Barry Lefler <barrylefler@pbcharrisburg.org> — Minister of Discipleship and Assimilation

Barry Lefler has served as the Minister of Discipleship and Assimilation since 2016.  Barry's ministry experience includes roles as Small Groups Pastor and Care Pastor at churches in the Charlotte metro area.  His secular experience consisted of 30 years as a fire protection engineer for a major insurance company.  Barry's desire is to encourage those who have become believers to grow spiritually and fully experience the joy of living in a personal relationship with Jesus.  Music also plays a major role in his life.  Barry enjoys worshiping the Lord by singing in the choir and playing bass guitar in the worship team at Providence.  He is an avid college football and basketball fan, but most enjoys watching his grandson play baseball.   Barry and his wife, Sheila, have four children and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Amber Hall <amberhall@pbcharrisburg.org> — Blast Preschool Grow Group Director

Amber Hall has served as the Preschool Director and Preschool VBS Director at Providence since 2013.  Amber grew up in the Providence family and, as a former preschool teacher, brings boundless passion and enthusiasm to her role.  Amber’s vision of the Providence Preschool Ministries is that each child will experience God’s love.  Her greatest desire is for each child to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ through the weekly preschool activities and as well as Vacation Bible School.  Amber and her husband Josh are blessed with two children, Hayden and Avery.

Mrs. Beth Rucker <bethrucker@pbcharrisburg.org> — Shine Children Grow Group Director

Beth Rucker has served in the Providence Children’s Ministry since 2010.  After spending 15 years in corporate human resources she made a life change and moved into the Cabarrus County School system as a Teacher’s Assistant.  Out of this change grew a love for children, their energy and unique perspective on everything.  Beth enjoys sparking that energy for the glory of God and learning, growing and making a difference together with the children of Providence Baptist Church each week.   Beth, her husband Todd, and her son Andre invite you to be a part of this ministry.
