What is a Care Village?

A care village is a network formed within a geographic area to support older adults independently aging in the community. The Providence Senior Care Village will be for those 60+ in the Harrisburg, NC area.

Why a Care Village?

Aging adults desire to live independently as long as possible. A care village fosters independence, Christian spirituality, wellness, engagement, care, and support. Providence Senior Care Village focuses on living safely at home, staying connected through social networks, and having access to community resources while receiving the support of a faith community.

Assessment / Questionnaire

The Senior Care Village leadership would like to gain a comprehensive understanding of how well seniors are prepared for the challenges of aging and identify areas where additional support or planning may be needed. This confidential survey includes questions about your current health status, home accessibility, financial planning, social connections, family support, access to healthcare, and interests.

Events & Activities

Our seniors gather every Tuesday at 10am on the Providence campus for Worship and Bible Study, with special activities immediately following. Additionally, we offer special events and additional activities throughout the year. For detailed information about all of these offerings, consult our quarterly brochure. Event Indicators

Activity Level 1: Sit, lie down, stand up, read, and move around the home.

Activity Level 2: Leisurely walk, grocery shop, do dishes and light housework.

Activity Level 3: Brisk walk, manage stairs and uneven pavement, rake leaves.

Activity Level 4: Moderate for vigorous intensity, such as pickleball.

Financial Cost: Indicates a cost to you for the activity.

JANUARY 20 TAKE A WALK OUTDOORS DAY

Get a little exercise when we recognize National Take a Walk Outdoors Day by walking to Panera for lunch. Please sign up if you’d like to attend.

JANUARY 23 DESSERT AND DESIGN

Join us for a fun evening as we create memories and a masterpiece. Enjoy desserts and fellowship during this instructor guided painting party. Each participant will create an 11×14 landscape canvas painting. Desserts will be provided. No artistic ability required. The cost of the event is $10 and can be paid by cash or check at the event. Checks should be made out to Providence Baptist Church. Please sign up if you would like to attend.
