“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”
Psalm 139:14

At Providence Baptist Church, we stand firm on the truth that every woman is created with infinite value, uniquely and wonderfully made by our sovereign God. The Made Women’s Ministry is founded on this essential verse from Scripture, calling us to truly understand our identity in Christ.

This ministry exists to support one another in obedience and grace. We are here to walk together as we faithfully grow in faith through the diligent study of God’s Word, learn what it means to serve the body with love and humility, and prayerfully build lasting community rooted in Christian truth.

We invite you to join us as we discover, live out, and glorify the wonderful works God has already accomplished in and through your life.

What is a Care Village?

A care village is a network formed within a geographic area to support older adults independently aging in the community. The Providence Senior Care Village will be for those 60+ in the Harrisburg, NC area.

Why a Care Village?

Aging adults desire to live independently as long as possible. A care village fosters independence, Christian spirituality, wellness, engagement, care, and support. Providence Senior Care Village focuses on living safely at home, staying connected through social networks, and having access to community resources while receiving the support of a faith community.

Assessment / Questionnaire

The Senior Care Village leadership would like to gain a comprehensive understanding of how well seniors are prepared for the challenges of aging and identify areas where additional support or planning may be needed. This confidential survey includes questions about your current health status, home accessibility, financial planning, social connections, family support, access to healthcare, and interests.

Music Ministry

Oh sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
— Psalms 96:1-4 (ESV)

Music is a gift from God, and like all such gifts is designed to be used to bring Him glory.  At Providence Baptist Church, we believe that the use of music in corporate worship is biblically mandated.  Furthermore, we find it to be spiritually beneficial, both for the appropriate and effective declaration of biblical truth and exultation of God, as well as for the mutual edification of His Church, the body of Christ.

Our approach to music combines elements of both traditional worship services with those of more modern ones.  We employ traditional Western instrumentation (of piano and organ) as well as that of a modern band (guitars, drums, etc.).  We sing hymns, praise choruses, and modern worship songs, and do so using both a vocal choir and a worship band.  We’ve found that, generally speaking*, the music of the older and younger generations are equally useful for the purposes of worshiping our amazing God together!

Getting Involved

The Worship Team is always looking for additional persons who have a heart for worship via the musical arts and the talent, willingness, and commitment to serve God and the local church in this fashion.  In addition to musicians, this ministry relies on the efforts of technicians capable of operating sound, lighting, and visual display systems.

Philosophy and Guidelines

We’ve taken the time to craft some fairly detailed documents describing our general philosophies and practical guidelines around these related ministries.  If you are considering serving in these areas, we suspect that the answers to most of your “What” and “Why” questions may be found by reading them.

Where Do I Fit In?

The following describes how we might route musicians who fall into particular broad categories of talent and interest:

Singers.  All adults with singing talent are invited to participate in our adult choir.  Practices are held Wednesdays at 7:30pm.  No auditions are required – simply come out to a practice and the Choir Director will help you find your role.  (NOTE:  Our adult choir takes a break during the Summer, so no practices or participation in services occurs during those months.)  In addition to the adult choir, we use a few vocalists during congregational music portions of our service guided by the Worship Leader and band.  Because of the visibility of this position, these vocalists are selected only from the pool of volunteers who have already demonstrated commitment to – and aptitude in – other musical ministries of the church (such as the adult choir or youth worship team).  If you wish to serve in this capacity, consider committing to one of these other ministry areas and serving faithfully there until you are asked about assuming a worship vocalist position.

Modern Pop/Rock Instrumentalists.  Generally speaking, the music style employed by the Worship Team at Providence is that of the typical Christian pop/rock band.  If you can play an instrument commonly found in this genre (acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, violin, folk stringed instruments, etc.), you will be invited to participate in a probationary period during which you will attend practice sessions but will not play or sing with the team on Sundays.  At the end of this period, it will be at the discretion of the Worship Leader as to when you will begin playing in Sunday services.  (Exceptions may be made if you are already actively serving in a similar capacity elsewhere in the church, such as in the Youth Worship Band.)  Practices are held Wednesdays at 5:30pm, and final rehearsals ahead of the Worship Service are held Sunday mornings at 8:30am.

Other Instrumentalists.  If you play an instrument not commonly employed in the worship services at Providence, you’re still encouraged to serve God with those talents, but yours will require a more individualized approach.  If you think your instrument can “fit in” with the worship band, you will be asked to demonstrate this by making an audio recording of yourself playing your instrument along with the original recordings of some popular worship songs we use at Providence.  If your instrument is simply a poor fit for the worship band, that’s okay – there are other music-supported moments throughout our services which offer opportunities for service.  Initiate a dialogue with the Worship Leader about your interests.

Children.  We wish to actively train musicians to use their talents in service to God – age is irrelevant.  So if your child has expressed an interest in serving in this fashion, that’s wonderful!  If your child is a middle- or high-schooler, consider contacting the Student Minister or Youth Worship Leader about participating in the Youth Worship Band.  Younger children who are developing a musical talent should contact the Worship Leader or Children’s Ministry leadership to discuss ways in which their talents might be used in a regular worship service.  Additionally, we have for years offered the Young Musicians JAM Series during the summer, which is a great chance for young musicians with established talent to begin playing music with others in a fun and low-stress environment.

* While the songs we select for use in our services are reviewed for their theological integrity, efficacy, and relatability in our specific local church context, our use of those songs does not imply endorsement of everything associated with the songwriters, publishing organizations, or related churches.

Preschool and Children’s Ministries

We strive to connect kids to God by cultivating a heart-transforming personal faith in Jesus Christ through a safe, loving, and fun environment with biblically sound teaching and relational discipleship. We desire to partner with parents to ensure that they are doing their God-ordained job of discipling their children in the home. We offer a variety of activities throughout the year for children and their families. We’d love to have you join us! Take a look at our ministry areas for birth through 5th grade.

MEET US AT THE MAZE
BLAST Preschool and SHINE Kids and their families are invited to load up the car with the kids and your neighbors and meet us in the Country Days Corn Maze parking lot (416 Joe Lee Helms Rd., Indian Trail NC) at 3:30pm on Saturday, October 4th for a hayride to the maze. We have reserved a bonfire pit from 4pm-6pm, so plan on meeting there sometime between 4pm and 5:30pm for hotdogs, chips, drinks, and s’mores.  The cost for the meal and one trip through the maze is $10/person age 3 and older.  You can navigate the maze and/or check out the other activities (additional cost of $1 per ticket or you can purchase an unlimited wristband) and stay at Country Days as long as you like. We just have to leave our bonfire pit by 6PM.  Check out their website for more information.

Please register by Thursday, October 2nd. In order to get the group rate for tickets, I have to purchase them in one transaction. You may pay cash, check written to Providence, or Venmo me @Jennifer-Pyne-2. You may pay me early or before we hop on the hayride! Thank you!

November 2025

November 2nd OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOX PACKING PARTY 9am-10:30am
During Grow Groups, BLAST Preschool and SHINE Kids will have a Shoebox Packing Party! I know that many of you pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child as a family, but we do this each year so that all of our children can participate.  We set up tables in the gym filled with items that the kids can “shop” from. Each child will pack one shoebox. Even if you pack your own boxes as a family, if you’d like to send in additional items, we’d love that! We will also accept donations to help cover the $10/box shipping fees.

College & Career Ministry

The Providence Baptist Church College & Career Ministry is a safe place for college-aged young adults to enjoy each other’s company while growing together in Gospel faith and practice.  We operate under the belief that the Word of God is best studied in context, that it is accessible and profitable to everyone (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and that the Church benefits when all believers share what God is teaching them through his word (Proverbs 27:17).

Bible Study

We gather on Wednesday evenings for Bible Study from 6:30pm-7:30pm.   This group tends to study the Bible book-by-book.  Also, we ask participants to study for themselves a selected portion of text in advance of our meeting, then come ready to share their observations in group discussion.  See the calendar below for details of what we’re studying each week.

We also have a small group meeting Sunday mornings from 9:00am-10:15am.  This group operates more in line with other adult Grow Groups at Providence, using a published curriculum for systematic study of the Bible.

Upcoming Events

Young adult life doesn’t have to be all higher learning and work and no play.  Whether it be pure recreation or joyfully serving together, we try to find ways to gather and enjoy each other’s company outside the classroom, too.  Watch this space, check out the calendar below, and subscribe to our Instagram feed @pbccollegeandcareer and GroupMe (by invitation out of respect for privacy) for the most up-to-date information on upcoming events.

Impact Student Ministry is changing the lives of Middle and High School Students
by introducing them to a growing and active life with Christ.

The above statement isn’t just a catchy slogan, it’s what IMPACT is all about.  A life with Jesus Christ is exciting, challenging, and the most rewarding experience a person can have and we want to introduce and encourage middle school and high school students to begin and develop that kind of life.  You can download a detailed copy of our Philosophy of Ministry here.

By being a part of IMPACT, you’ll be a part of a group of your peers who are developing that same relationship with Christ.  You can expect to be a part of fun and meaningful youth worship events, deeper discussion in a smaller group of students your same age, and lots of other opportunities for special events like worship events, mission trips, retreats, and other monthly special activities.

Grow Groups

Sunday Mornings at 9am

Grade-based fellowship groups that “do life together.”  You may talk about what’s happening at school, the application of the teaching focus for the week, pray for and with each other, do mission work together, and just have a great time!

Small Groups

Wednesday Evenings at 6:30pm

Our mid-week small groups are a chance for students to gather together to hear a short biblical lesson, then they are broken up into age and gender-specific groups where they make practical applications and experience biblical community together.

Converge

Monthly on a Sunday Evening at 5pm

Converge is a corporate worship event specifically designed for Middle and High School students. Students are encouraged to invite their friends that may not normally go to church.  Each service includes music, prayer, games, and a time of opening God’s Word.

PARENTS:  We require that students participating in off-campus activities have an annual Medical Release Form filed with the Church Office.  This form provides important medical information and serves to protect both your student and the church in the unlikely event of an emergency medical situation.  If the student is under 18 years of age, this form must be notarized.  For your convenience, we will be organizing opportunities for you to meet with a notary here at the church.

Upcoming Events and Activities

**If finances are keeping a student from participating in an event, please email Evan. We do not want a student to miss out on an event due to finances**

December

4th-7th – Bethlehem Village (6-9pm)

Step back in time, and journey through the village of Bethlehem as it might have appeared 2000 years ago.  Meet residents of the village, learn about their trades, customs, and family life, and experience with them the oppression of Roman rule and the joyous hope of the promised Messiah!

This interactive walking tour of our Bethlehem village is Providence Baptist Church’s “Christmas card” to Harrisburg and the surrounding areas.  Each year, over a hundred volunteers work to create an engaging experience for visitors, who travel from near and far to experience this tradition each December.  The guided tour through the village lasts about 45 minutes, arriving at a new stop every three minutes on average.  Travelers are encouraged to respectfully interact with the village residents, asking questions they may have about their trade or customs.  Upon completion of the tour, visitors can warm up in Providence’s Family Life Center with apple cider, hot chocolate, and cookies!

If you are interested in volunteering as a cast or crew member for any of the nights, see Stacy Capel in the café after services, or talk to Evan.

12th – Chaotic Christmas Party (6pm – 9pm)

This year, for our Christmas party, we are going all out and have a “Chaotic Christmas”! We will be loud, messy, over the top, and ridiculous as we have fun together and grow in community. Student’s can dress up in whatever ridiculous and over the top costumes they choose! We do ask that everyone RSVP to the party so we can best prepare, and to bring a food item to share. Evan will provide the drinks.

Please send food in disposable containers, if possible, so we are not having to wash a lot of things nor track down who owns what. We are also limited on outlets so we cannot plug in a bunch of crock-pots.

To RSVP and to sign up for food, click here

24th – Outdoor Christmas Eve Service (6pm)

We hope you and your family will take time out of your schedules to join us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas Eve. Our service will be outside in our front parking lot so we can be a witness to those driving by. Service will last about 30min. Please dress warm and feel free to bring some chairs.
